Fixed Period Exclusion

Fixed Period Exclusion

If your child is excluded from school it can be very upsetting and confusing for both parents and the child. A fixed period exclusion may be a punishment for a one-off incident of bad behaviour or it may be a sign that things are not right at school and that extra support with behaviour may be needed.

This booklet will help parents and carers to understand the exclusion process, to work with the school to prevent further exclusions and to make representation to the governing body about the exclusion. It contains model letters and links to further information. The booklet covers the statutory Exclusion Guidance in place from September 2017.
