Asking For a Statutory Assessment

Asking For a Stututory Assessment

A full investigation of a child's learning difficulties can often lead to a diagnosis and better provision. Parents have a right in law to ask their local education authority to undertake a statutory assessment of their child's special educational needs. Generally the LEA will want evidence that the child has made poor progress despite the school's efforts. ACE's booklet helps parents prepare a report about their child for the LEA and understand the assessment process.
