ACE supports local authorities through:
- An affiliation scheme that provides easy access to advice publications for staff and parents
- Guidance, training and consultancy on issues such as exclusions, special educational needs, admissions and bullying
ACE acts as a voice for parents and carers to promote changes in the education system that benefit all children, through lobbying for changes to the law and guidance. We also promote good practice through publications, the media and events
Working with local authorities
We take calls on our advice lines from parents all over the country, and help affiliated authorities to publicise the service through sending out posters and other publicity materials.
Many authorities regularly buy ACE booklets, such as Choosing a School, Appealing for a School, Tackling Bullying, Getting Extra Help, Fixed Period and Permanent Exclusion for distributing to parents. Extra discounts on bulk orders are available through the Affiliation Scheme. Regular publications – ACE Bulletin, and Stop Press are also available at cheaper rates through the Scheme.
ACE’s Education Step-by-Step package is available for LEA staff and others working with parents. This provides ACE’s Education Step-by-Step Advice Manual, with the option of training on key issues and use of the manual, with updates when the law changes, and extra help through a back-up phone line. The Manual equips advisers with step-by-step guidance on helping parents deal with admissions, exclusions, special needs and bullying. Contact us for more details.
